Manual of the Eldritch Arts
by Belasco DiMera Giovanni
1. Introduction
A note from the author about the authority of this book.In order to create the magic system used by Belasco I pooled ideas from three different game systems.
The primary mechanics and baseline for this essay is based off of the Marvel Super Heroes Role Playing Game. A vast majority of this information comes from that system and those comics.
- The spell schools and many of the spells descriptions included came from Dungeons and Dragons. I also utilized some of the mythology written for this game about the planes, etc.
- Finally we have some of the mythos from the Palladium Role Playing Game and the Rifts background. Things such as the Splugorth, and Atlantean Stone/Pyramid Magic came from those books.
It is no accident that I left out White Wolfs Mage stylings. While I enjoy Mage the Ascencion a great deal, I felt that a more traditional magic system with structured spells and schools of magic was more appropriate for the setting of Wayrath. With the exception of the description of the Oracles, I do not believe I used anything from that game at all.
It was not my intention in any way to infringe upon the copyrights of the above published works. I cite them here in an attempt to give credit where credit is do. Although this work may be unique, it is not entirely original.
